INDIAN ADVENTURE - 11th October - Trek day 4
Today we reached the highest point of our trek - 3500m. The original plan for the trek was to walk up to a glacier and weather permitting to cross the glacier and return. We did see a glacier but it ha retreated a very distance - quite a sobering sign of global warming.

We walked up to some shepherd's hut and some great views.
A few of us walked up to a higher point and the Belarusian flag was raised to mark the spot. We had lunch at the top and then walked back down to the campsite in time for a shower and some relaxation.
Washing was actually an indian bucket bath which is basically a bucket of hot water and a small jug to pour it over you - a very satisfying way to bathe.
The pace today was even slower as I think they were concerned about people putting in too much effort at altitude. Actually no-one was badly affected but most peoples pulses were much faster and most hills put us out of breath before it normally would.
Tonight was a lot of fun - we had a big campfire and many of the support staff joined us for a sing-song. In essece we played 2 different games - a song from every country represented on the trek and a challenge from the Indian team (India versus the rest of the world) where we had to sing a few lines of a song then whatever letter it ended on they had to sing a new song starting with that letter. Bollywood was very helpful for them and every song they sang semed to end with 'g'. I must have been feeling relaxed as I did 'Flower of scotland' with a little help from a couple of English friends (thanks John and Simon!).
The sky was amazing here at night, the Milky Way incredibly clear - so many stars and plenty of shooting stars to spot!
