INDIAN ADVENTURE - 7th October - Mcleod Ganj

Early get up at 0330 after our overnight train journey an then 4 wheel drive vehicles north to Dharamsala and Mcleod Ganj. Slept on part of the drive but the part I was awake for was very interesting. We saw lots of small towns and villages and plenty of monkeys as we drove through one section. The road went up to higher altitudes and we started to see the mountains!

We are staying at the Asian Health Resorts Hotel with fantastic views back down over the valley.

After lunch we went into Mcleod Ganj by taxis to visit the Dalai Lamas adopted home. It was a very interesting place, lots of Tibetan monks, prayer flags and prayer wheels. One of the most striking things was the colours and the landscape.

Next we went into the town itself and did a bit of shopping. It is a great place to shop with lots of small shops and plenty of Tibetan influence.

Enjoyed a beer with the group in the evening on the terrace in the cold - a taste of what is to come on the trek!
