INDIAN ADVENTURE - 9th October - Trek day 2

Took some video footage today of people walking past, down over a bridge. This had the great advantage that I got to sit in the shade for a while watching life past by while I waited for the second group to pass. I saw lots of little bits of local life - a girl running past on her way to school, a woman carrying straw, so much that I couldn't see her face and several people just walking past. On the river by where I was sitting someone had laid out cloth to dry and one piece in the water - washing the natural way!

It was nice to have a little time to myself and probably the only time I got on the whole trip!

We stopped for a break in a small village where they were making chapattis and letting us 'help' in the process. It was very interesting to go into a house and see a little more of how they lived. We stayed here a while and at one point I took out my journal and got some of the local children to write in it. It was good to have the interaction.

Next we walked down a ridge to cross a river. It was a very warm day and it was very refreshing to have a quick dip!

We had the worst incident of the trip where Lynda fell on crossing the river and for a terrible time was trapped under the water. Jan and Manu (and a few others) managed to rescue her and only bruising resulted. This really shook everyone and reminded us that what we were doing was not easy.
That afternoon we had a long climb in the heat and then camped on terraced fields for the night.
