INDIAN ADVENTURE - 6th October - briefings, Delhi and overnight train

We started the day with a photoshoot under India Gate, the large war memorial.

After this had various briefings in the Raj Palace hotel starting with a briefing about the trek, then one on Save the Children and finally a press briefing and lunch. There has been a lot of interest in the Indian press about our trip so it was a good opportunity to promote the work of Save the Children and the projects we are supporting in India.

After lunch we visited the Red Fort in the heart of Old Delhi which included India's largest mosque and a bazaar copied from the old bazaar in Istanbul. Next we took a rickshaw ride around the edge of the old fort. Old Delhi was very lively and there was a definite buzz about it. It was packed with people and vehicles all moving good around.

Next dinner and off to the station for an overnight train to Pathankot. The station was busy and the cabins basic but functional.

We learnt later that the train we were supposed to catch was running more than 8 hours late so with some fast rearrangement by Dene our local guide we were booked on the earlier and faster train. Only bad news is that we had to get up very early!
