INDIAN ADVENTURE - 8th October - Trek day 1

First day of the trek!
It was great to be finally walking after all of the build up. The scenery was amazing - the high mountains look fantastic.

Today we walked through pine forest. I collected several of the largest pine cones I have seen and walked for the rest of the trek with them attached to my rucksack!

The pace is steady but it is hot and it is good to take it slowly. Very varied scenery with people, villages, goats, children and the mountains themselves.

The paths are good and clearly marked along also rocky. We did 2 good bridge crossings and saw lots of children on the way to and back from school.

The camp site is great - and quite luxurious! We have pit toilets but with seats and wash tents with bucket baths. The queue for the wash tents was rather long so I gave it a miss that night. Also we have a socialising tent where everying can sit to eat and even a bar!

Enjoyed getting to know some more people and watching the sun set with beautiful Alpine glow on the mountains before retiring early for a good nights sleep. I had been struggling for most of the trip so far.

Some people feel the cold, others don't....
